Alkali Silica Reaction In Concrete

Ettringite Infilling A Void In ASR Affected Concrete

A common concern in the evaluation of bridge and other concrete structures in which potentially reactive aggregates were included is whether the aggregates have reacted with the alkali from the cement to produce an expansive gel. Petrography is the definitive method of identifying Alkali Silica Reaction (ASR) and whether it has developed to a disruptive stage.
